Top 5 uses of Baking soda in 2019

If you are like me,  then you must have ignored this gem of a product for almost all your life–BAKING SODA!

Baking soda or baking powder, from it’s name, is used basically for “baking”, but this product can be used for so much more.

First of all a little about Baking soda. Baking soda, which is also known as Sodium Bicarbonate, is a white powder that many would confuse for cocaine, but the only thing this products gets high are baked goods.

Unknown to many, Baking soda is an amazing beauty product that has uncountable benefits. These benefits includes:

1. Prevents and Cures Pimples

• Baking Soda has antibacterial and antifungal properties, the same properties that is found in “Funbact-A” or “Skineal”, which helps to kill skin-damaging microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi.

• It also has antiinflammatory properties that prevents or counteracts inflammations such as Pimples, boils, etc.


All that is needed is a tablespoon of Baking soda mixed with a table spoon of lukewarm water in a clean bowl. This mixture is applied to affected area for 5 minutes and then rinsed off.

Note: If you choose, lemon or honey could be added to the mixture.

2. Brightens Complexion

•Baking soda helps brighten the skin by exfoliating the skin and removing dirt and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing, smooth and youthful.

•Pimples spots or scars can also be removed by Baking Soda due to its brightening properties.


Mix a tablespoon of Baking soda with Two tablespoons of Lemon (orange can also be used) in a clean bowl. Apply the mixture on face and neck and leave for 15 minutes then rinse off.

Note: The mixture can also be made from Baking soda and Aloe vera or Baking soda and honey, depending on the ingredients you have.

3. Gets rid of oily skin

• Oily skin can be treated with Baking soda which absorbs excess oil from face and unclogs the skin pore.


All that is needed is a table spoon of Baking Soda with a table spoon of water. The mixture should be used to gently massage the face for 2-3 minutes, afterwards it should be left on the face for 7-10 minutes then rinsed off.

4. Gets rid of dandruff.

• Dandruff can be treated with Baking Soda by removing from hair and scalp excess oil (which dandruff thrives in), softens hair and restore shine.

•Baking soda also reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff.


Wet your hair and then massage a handful of baking soda gently  into your scalp for 2-3 minutes, then leave it in for  about 15 minutes before rinsing off.

Note: Use no more than 3 times a week to avoid dryness of hair.

5. For eliminating body odour

•The antibacterial properties of Baking soda, kills odour-causing bacteria.

•Baking soda also absorbs the excess moisture when we sweat. This helps in not just controlling body odour, but also, brings down perspiration. 


Mix a tablespoon of Baking Soda and a tablespoon of Lemon. Apply the mixture on the areas you sweat the most such as underarms, back, neck, etc. Leave for 15 minutes then wash off with a bath.

They are so many products out there that promise do all the that was listed above overnight, but we all know that they hardly ever work and the worst part is that those products are very expensive. Baking soda on the other hand is terribly cheap and highly effective. So give baking soda a chance today.

Note: Consistency is key. If you start any of the procedures today, make sure to keep up with it for a week or two. Do not start today then stop to resume next week. For maximum result, be consistent.
